Family Fun in J.B. Hunt’s Junior Driver Training Camp

Sep 27 2017

J.B. Hunt drivers tend to be routed to Northwest Arkansas for training and various events at J.B. Hunt’s corporate office, but this summer, their families had the opportunity to visit the home office too. Twenty-nine drivers came to the region to compete in the Arkansas Truck Driving Championship and many brought their families for encouragement and support.

While drivers studied and trained for the competition, their spouses and children enjoyed an afternoon of fun in the Junior Driver Training Camp. The camp gave families a first-hand experience of what it is that their truck driver parents or spouses do every day. As J.B. Hunt drivers huddled over their first championship test, their kids gathered under the trees on the grounds of J.B. Hunt corporate office to hear about the upcoming games and safety challenges. After a brief explanation of the courses, the kids began their tasks. They rolled inflatable tires for their pre-trip and ran through an obstacle course loaded with road directions: low clearance- crawl, find an alternative route around an unsafe driver, use mirrors to find hidden pedestrians and practice communicating with a teammate to get through a challenging route.

Families enjoyed learning about road safety at Junior Driver Training Camp and cheering on their drivers at the Arkansas Truck Driving Championship. We were pleased to entertain our driver families and watch them join in on the fun!
